Prior to opening my current firm in 1996, I worked for the other side: big employers, big insurance companies, and their big law firms. I know what they do, and why. But since 1996 I've been lucky enough to earn my living helping people, representing only the workers.
Since approximately 1996 my practice has exclusively been representing employees / plaintiffs/ applicants /claimants.
My practice exclusively consists of cases where my entitlement to attorneys’ fees is contingent on a successful outcome.
My office's legal niche and focus involves multi-jurisdictional matters filed and prosecuted under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, and/or the California Workers’ Compensation Act, and/or the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (primarily disability discrimination cases associated with workers’ compensation injuries), and/or the California Labor Code [wage and hour matters primarily arising from a client with a workers’ compensation (state and/or Longshore)].
But as part of my practice, I have also represented my clients in civil torts, breach of contract; ERISA; CalPERS; the State Personnel Board (SPB); union grievances; and before government agencies, such as the city council.
My representative client base are members of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, the California School Employees Association , the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers , UNITE HERE [formerly the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees, merged with the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union], and other employees who work on the jurisdictional checkerboard on and around navigable waters and military bases throughout California.
